It started in the stands.

I'm Gary, I'm 11, and I've supported Charlton Athletic my whole life. I started bringing a camera to games, just shooting what I could see from my seat and trying to catch the moments that made me feel something.

The Charlton Media Team spotted my photos. And my Dad got talking to them over e-mail, and not long after they invited me back to The Valley, not as a fan in the stands but as an Official Matchday Photographer for a Championship game.

Standing pitch-side at a professional ground with a press pass and a job to do was something I'll never forget. It showed me what's possible when you take something seriously, even at 11.

Since then I've been pitch-side at Ashford Town FC, including the day they secured promotion. The raw emotion of that moment, the disbelief, the joy, the pile-on, is exactly the kind of thing I want to keep capturing.
